Metered parking is available throughout downtown Swarthmore for varying time lengths from 30 minutes to 12 hours. All meters are marked with a sticker indicating the time limit. Meters accept different denominations of coins, depending on the meter length. Parking can also be paid utilizing Passport Parking Mobile Pay. The app can be downloaded at https://ppprk.com/park/. Metered parking is enforced from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Parking is always free on Saturday, Sunday and legal holidays.
Listed below are various parking permits available through the Borough. Permits may be obtained at Swarthmore Borough Hall Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. E-mail the Borough Office at email@example.com if you need to make other arrangements to obtain a permit.
Allows parking at any 12-hour parking meter in the Borough between 6 a.m. and 2 a.m. Daytime sticker must be purchased each month, but there is no limit on the number of months that can be purchased in advance. Purchaser need not be a resident of the Borough. Cost is $40 per month.
Overnight Parking on Myers Avenue (for permanent Borough residents only)
Allows overnight parking (6 p.m. to 8 a.m) at 12-hour meters on Myers Avenue. Purchaser must be a resident of the Town Center. There is no cost for this sticker.
Long Term (24-hour) Myers Avenue Parking
This permit allows 24-hour parking at assigned parking spots located at the eastern end of Myers Avenue. Permits must be purchased monthly, but there is no limit on the number of months that can be purchased in advance. Purchaser need not be a resident of the Borough. Swarthmore College students are welcome to apply. Cost is $50 per month. Permits can be purchased at the Borough Hall Administration Office located at 121 Park Avenue. Residential permit programs
The Borough restricts overnight street parking in certain areas. All streets with such restricted are posted with signs. If you live in one of these areas, you may obtain a residential parking permit at Borough Hall. Please bring a copy of your license and registration. There is no cost for this permit.
Enforcement is handled by the Swarthmore Police. The fine for the first violation of any parking meter zone time limit shall be Five Dollars ($5.00), and the fine for violations occurring at least one hour after the initial violation shall be an additional Twenty-Five Dollars ($25.00).
Payment of parking fines
Payment may be made at Borough Hall Monday – Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. All tickets unpaid within 10 days will be sent to the District Justice for citation.
Reporting Broken meters
If you encounter a broken meter, please write down the meter number located on the meter pole and call the Borough Office or the Police Station to report.
