Chief of Police Job Opening in Swarthmore


The Borough of Swarthmore, in Delaware County PA is seeking an exceptional leader to serve as Chief of Police and provide direction and leadership to the Police Department. The Police Department patrols and services the communities of Swarthmore (pop. 6,239; land area of 1.40 square miles) and Rutledge (pop. 800; land area of 0.14 square miles), both being fully developed suburban communities just outside Philadelphia PA. 

The successful candidate will manage and mentor a force of approximately seven (7) full-time officers, and possible additional part-time officers and civilian support personnel. All applicants must be able to meet Pennsylvania Municipal Police Officers Education and Training Commission certification guidelines; ; have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; have at least ten (10) years’ experience in a municipal law enforcement agency, including at least three (3) years as in a position with management responsibilities.
